Marantz透過 avbuzz 以香港為基地,向東南亞地區發放他們最新旗艦 3 chips DLP投影機,
這部身價二十多萬港幣的投影機,上週到港,第一時間運到音響天地雜誌社的專業試影室內。
今次由TopGun所拍攝的這輯VP-10S1影集,是官方受權拍攝和容許向外發放的第一家照片。
這輯硬照不單只是 avbuzz 讀者優先看到之外,2004年7月31日(星期六),
Marantz 專誠為 avbuzz會員安排了一個全港首次的VP-10S1欣賞會,
只招待 avbuzz

舉行地點安排在音響天地雜誌社內,其中一個面積達
600呎漆黑試影室內進行,
主講嘉賓當然是音響天地名咀主筆林振輝先生來主持。
當日為 avbuzz 會員提供兩場欣賞會,每場提供 20個座位,即兩場合共只能有40個

<Three-chip DLP™ projector equipped with an HD panel>
The
VP-10S1 is one of the world’s first triple-chip DLP™ projectors that
include a build-in HD panel in a single unit.
As for one of great distinction of this three-panel model, it is not required color wheel. In another word,
VP-10S1 is color breaking noise free so extremely
improved Video signal reproducing.
Advanced 14-bit processing formatters are used to drive the DMD panels.
This processing power enables reproduction of 214 levels of gradation.
The jump from 10-bit to 14-bit processing translates into performance with 16-times finer gradation
for the VP-10S than the VP-12 series.
And because 14-bit processing is applied to each of the RGB signals,
the performance of the VP-10S1 is multiplied threefold: 16 x 3 = 48 times the processing power of the VP-12 series.
The 16,770,000 colors usually equated with "full color" is possible with only 8-bit processing of each RGB signal,
so we're confident that viewers will
appreciate how exceptional 14-bit processing power really is.

Building on the proven track record of the VP-12 series,
we also adopted Faroudja's
celebrated video processing in a three-chip configuration for this VP-10S1.

<Dual component terminals>
Due to built in a couple of component terminal (one each for 3RCA and 3BNC),
it
is capable to connect dual component source at the same time, as well as VP12S3

The VP-10S1 includes a 250-Watt (AC) lamp that easily provides enough brightness for home theaters
with
150-inch screens or larger.

<Automatic color temperature adjustment>
During production, the color temperature characteristics of each projector are individually factory-set before delivery.
Although projector lamps are produced under thorough quality control by lamp manufacturers,
strictly speaking there is a distribution of characteristics and each lamp is very slightly different.
There
is also a possibility that characteristics may change over time after prolonged
use.
Up till now, Users had to rely on the color temperature that was adjusted for the characteristics
of the used lamps before replacement as the color temperature for the new lamp.
We have now added a light sensor CT-12 with a built-in photo-detector.
(This is installed in the VP-10S1 to offer users automatic calibration for restoring the factory-set color temperature level
by simply accessing “Color Temp. Calibration in Config. The adjustment process itself takes about five minutes.
During adjustment, the warning and standby LEDs flash, and when the flashing stops, adjustment is complete.
This function gives users control over adjusting their projector—an easy way to restore the optimal color temperature
setting
whenever they want.
<Illuminated remote>
As well as VP12S3, VP-10 has phosphorescent and back-lit remote (RC-12VPS3).
Pressing the Light button which is located on bottom of the Remote,
seven
keys illuminate the around the cursors for about seven seconds.
Keys of the bottom section are also phosphorescent.
This
is quite easy and convenient controller for home theater environments especially
in dark place.
<Picture
modes and preset gamma patterns>
The same range of picture mode options as the VP-12 series are available:
Theater, Standard, Dynamic, and User. The three preset parameters of each mode are
customizable
for in total twelve user profiles that can be stored.
(Note) Regarding user positions, the VP-12S3 offers a total of nine user profiles (three each for users A, B, and C)
while the VP-10S1 offers only three. This was prompted out of consideration of the memory consumption.
Memory requirements for the formatters described above are several times greater than for the VP-12 series,
and
many more parameters must be stored.

As for menu items that can be stored, users can store their own Picture Adjustment settings.
Specifically, users can recall their preferred settings in these items:
Contrast,
Brightness, Color, Sharpness, Tint, Noise Reduction, Color Temp., and Fine Menu.
Note:
Various other settings (such as for installation details) can be stored
separately from the user profiles.

Five adjustment levels are available for the preset color temperatures.
Users
can fine-tune the settings to enjoy video images matching their color
temperature preferences.

Luminance, Chrominance
Detail and Edge gain are adjustable for both Luminance and Chrominance.
Users can specify the threshold levels for Detail and Edge signals.
That
is, they can set the minimum level at which the adjustment settings take effect.

DCDi (Directional
Correctional De-interlacing):ON/OFF
The effects of Faroudja's IP conversion and DCDi circuitry can be activated and deactivated.
This is
better to confirm for surely working of above circuit and function.
2. FRC (Frame Rate
Conversion):Auto/On
Frame Rate Conversion is off by default when set to Auto (unless set to On for vertical sync signal input),
but if it is set to On, the projector will convert all input signals to 60 Hz.
Activate it if you are having difficulty syncing with a
computer input signal.
3. CCS(Cross Color
Suppressor Function):ON/OFF
This
function reduces color noise. It should be ON when customer feels color noise
with S or Composite (CVBS) input.
4. Clamp Position、Clamp
Width
The black level is set for RGB signal input by using the sync signal it carries.
During this process if the sync signal includes noise in the pedestal level
(the key portion for black level detection), the black level may be incorrectly set,
resulting in an elevated black level. In this case, users can take advantage of this newly added feature.
Adjust
the Clamp Position and Clamp Width for accurate source image reproduction with
the correct black level setting.
<DVI-D HDCP support—digital input terminal>
We've added a DVI-D input terminal to VP-10.
It means
ready for input from the HDCP-compatible DVI-D output terminal built into models
such as DV8400 and DV-12S2.
