The HDC-DX1 high definition video camera from Panasonic was announced at the same time as its SDHC-card companion, the Panasonic HDC-SD1, and is designed to share the limelight as it spearheads a digital video revolution by recording high definition video clips to Dual-sided, Dual-layer DVD-RAM, DVD-R and DVD-RW 8cm disks in addition to SDHC memory card (of which a 4GB version is supplied with the model). Like its sibling, it uses the relatively new AVCHD recording system to achieve very high quality images when displayed on large high definition LCD and Plasma television sets.
Panasonic will also launch a AVCHD camcorder with DVD-R recording capabilities, here is it, the HDC-DX1. The HDC-DX1 AVCHD camcorder uses DVD-RAM/-R/-RW and DVD-R double-layer (DL) discs as recording media.
The camcorder features 3CCD sensor, 5.1-channel surround sound and the HD crystal engine can processes images twice as quickly as progressive scan CCDs and it supports AVCHD and uses the MPEG4 AVC/H.264 technolog.
