Higo hing, Magic TV supports multiple HDD. You can connect both 500G and 2TB USB HDD on the Magic TV. Select all recorded program on 500G USB HDD and copy/move to 2TB USB HDD.

leeon hing, that seems very weird! If the USB drive is formatted by MagicTV, please do a "Check and Repair" on the USB drive. If that can not fix the problem, please bring the USB HDD to our office to check.

Dear C-Hings,
I recently upgraded from my good old MTV3000 to the newly announced MTV3200D and the firmware version is 5.04.
1. For the TV reception, so far so good and the picture quality is at least as good as the old MTV3000. However, I note that there is an occasional problem for the new STB - there no response from remote control from time to time. When the MTV3200D is switched off and turned on again, the functioning of the remote control restores to normal. My question is whether this is a hardware problem or just a firmware bug. Please advise.
2. Further, I would like to upgrade the external harddisk from 500G to 2T. Any recommendation (or any particular brand I should stay away from). My requirements are that it should be silent and have sleep mode.
3. I note that the external harddisk connected to the MTV is EXT formatted. I have installed the necessary driver in my Windows-based laptop so that I can access the EXT formatted external harddisk. Do I need any other special Windows program which enable me to copy the programs which are stored in my existing 500G harddisk to the new 2T harddisk? My goal is have a single consolidated harddisk connected to the MTV.
Many thanks for your advice. |

可否嘗試在下次更新時把網絡設定改成需求時連線,即在進入節目表及看新聞時才連線。
另外在錄影途中不能連線。
以上的設定能否減少MTV的負荷,另系統更穩定。 |

For Li On hing's information,
由 11/15 到今天 (共 9 天), 5.05 beta2 version 一直運作良好. 但今天在 standby 下, 一開機就黑畫面, 然後部 MTV3200D 自行 reboot.
Note:
Model: MTV3200D
Firmware: 5.05 beta2
Ethernet connection: LAN
HDD: Western Digital 2T x 2 (totally 4T) same model. |

Arcadeez hing, you can not compare signal strength value directly between MTV3000 and MTV3200D, as they use different tuner chips and the strength value calculations are different. Simply watch live TV and make sure there is no artifact due to reception problem. If MTV3000 works without reception problem, the MTV3200D must work on the same socket.

Li On |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend! This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
Please post any question about the upcoming MTV3000 recording firmware here! Thanks in advance.
regards,
Li On
