The Editmark function is in firmware 2.05 a month ago. If user used Editmark, then using 2.06, a simply "cut" all programs will do the job. Though a little time and space is needed...

我今朝怒剪輯
我好肯定show 剩餘時間係無問題。。
剪一次奧運開／閉幕既clips（只保留文藝部份），delete返個source
時間會加返好多 
p.s.
一個鐘(標／高清)節目得~10min 廣告
你要剪at least 6套先會加返(標／高清)時間
你又可以對下剪前／後既file size (as show as the screen)

依家用green > 去到最後果秒
個節目一定會quit....就算我即刻press green < 去返前面
有點麻煩..其實我想清除個end mark... 我一定要去到最後果個位，但一去到果個位，節目會quit
我希望可以improve 下呢個handling 
如果有個mode 係edit mode，又可以play at 0.5x (可以剪得準d)
無論我seek去邊個位，佢都唔會quit直至我press stop

Eddie Wan hing, 10mins difference maybe too little to reflect on the total remaining time.
You can do a test, for example, take a longer (1.5 or 2hours) HD recorded program, delete it (move to trash). The recording time should increase.
Un-delete the program, and mark MOST of the recording as unwanted and make a cut program of just a few minutes.
Then delete (move to trash) the original long recording. The recording time should increase.
After the test you can undelete the original recording, remove the editmark, delete the short "cut" clip and return everything to normal!

Thank you very much for your assurance.
I just tried to work it out for a recorded programme. It took about 10 muinutes to copy the original edited programme of about 30 mnutes to a new one. As someone has mentioned, the capacity of the harddisk for further recording did not change after the original programme is deleted. Is it just a small bug? |

Try 2.06, mtv長開下, TV先開機畫面要閃幾下先定已冇問題.  另外係MTV3K長開下Maxtor Basic 750G已可以有返自動進入sleep mode

if a X mark is at 00:00 to 00:02 (first 2s), the system will assume to cut from the beginning 00:00
if a V (tick) mark is at the last 2 seconds of the clip, the system will assume to mark at the end |

Would you please clarify if the edited programme will have the same video/audio quality as the original programme? Some said the video is worse than the original one. |

Some tips on Editmark operation:
- cut from the beginning:
play from the beginning, press X once the timebar show up at 00:00, later mark a V (tick) when the wanted video start
first mark a V (tick) when the wanted video start, then press the green left < key (5mins jump back) to jump back to the beginning at 00:00 and mark a X
if a X mark is at 00:00 to 00:02 (first 2s), the system will assume to cut from the beginning 00:00
- cut the end:
first mark a X when the UNwanted video start, then press the green right > key (5mins jump forward) to jump to the end and mark a V (tick)
when the video reach the end (normal play, fast forward or direct jump), the picture will "pause" around 2 seconds, during the "pause", add a V (tick) to mark the end
if a V (tick) mark is at the last 2 seconds of the clip, the system will assume to mark at the end
- cut at the middle:
mark a X when the UNwanted video start, then mark a V (tick) when the wanted video start
- fine tune mark point:
when you marked a wrong X or V, within 4 seconds, press the same X or V again to remove the incorrect X or V mark
use the |< key to jump back 8s to make a new mark at the correct position
use the green left/right </> key to jump between V (tick) mark
jump to a V (tick) mark first, then use the |< key to jump back 8s to the X mark before the V mark

我平時係咁用編輯功能。
* 剪頭（即0:00直到節目開始)
先用✔(tick)標示節目開始的位置
然後用 ← 回到0:00按 X
原因: ✔(tick)錯可以再按✔(tick)取消標示
* 剪中間的廣告
電視播廣告前都會有間場的畫面，一般我會keep一個。
要值得留意的是，你做的標示可能有半秒至一秒的不準確...(因為人的reaction time haha!!!)
所以...
[節目] X [間場][廣告] tick [間場][節目]
我會在見到播廣告前間場的第一刻按 X
到再見到廣告播完的間場的第一刻，按✔(tick)
這樣會keep一個間場而不會miss節目內容
* 剪尾（即節目完結後的廣告)
按 X 然後用 → 去到節目最後幾秒
在最後一秒按✔(tick)

What the new editing function does is to "record" a playback.
You edit a recording by "marking" the unwanted portion and then make a recording by playing back the edited recording.
Therefore it takes as long as the resulting recording. i.e. about 42 minutes from a TV program after skipping the adverts.
It takes one more step and a lot longer than what DVD HDD recorder does.
But it does work and work satisfactorily. It is a clever and simpler way to make that possible until a new software can be written like a DVD HDD recorder does. |

I tried the editing function tonight. I never tried it before because it was not really editing function.
But I did not even get pass the first phase (doing the markings).
It is very very fiddly. I could not succeed in hiding (using X and /) the part I wanted and it was very difficult to "undo".
There must be a better way. |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend! This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP. 
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
