我用 MTV3000+BUFFALO 640GB,一路都冇問題,但用左3.02就死曬火,
一刪除節目就畫面黑一黑,跟著就畫面同聲音原全不同步,有是重續格重播,
要重新開機先冇事,所以依家我都用番3.01.......  |

I also experience the same symptom and have already reported it to Li On Hing and Peter Hing.
The only way I can do is turn on the MTV3000 and put it back to standby again only 1-2 sec later but well before boardcasting. Then, the drive will fall asleep permanently until your next trigger.
I also hope that Pixel Magic can help resolve this with its next firmware upgrade.

Li On hing,
My MTV 3000 has upgraded to ver 3.02 and several problems were experienced which did not happen in 3.01 or 2.06.
1. MTV cannot detect the USB harddisk several times. I need to restart MTV using the remote control to properly detect the HDD. In one occassion, MTV was started by timer recording and the USB harddisk was not detected and the front panel display showed "No HDD". However, the problem still exist for sometime and I then switched the power off at the back panel and restart the MTV and HDD once again. The problem did not repeat in the past few days.
2. Yesterday, when I was playing back a recorded program (夢想飛行 Good Luck from TVB HD, TV channel also in TVB HD), another program 求婚大作戰 start recording in J2 according to the timer recording. After recording for several minutes in J2, I stopped the recorded program and swtiched the channel to J2 to view the program being recorded. However, there was no picture and the sound was intermittent. I tried to switch it back to TVB HD and the siutation was still the same. I've tried many times and still the same. I've also switched to TVB iNews and the problem still persists. After around 5 mins, TVB HD has sound but still no image. After another 2 to 3 min, watching TVB HD is OK but J2 and TVB iNews still have problem. After the timer recording finished, I switched to J2 and TVB iNews but the problem still exists. However, I can view the program recorded from J2. I stopped the playback and try to resume the playback later, but the problem of no image and intermittent sound appear again. I then switched off the MTV power at the back panel and power down the HDD and restart everything once again. After restart, viewing J2 and iNews still have problem but I can playback the recorded program in J2. After playing back the recorded program (recorded from J2) and I tried to switch the channel, every thing back to normal.
I've done similar operation with ver 2.06 and 3.01 many times without any problem. I think there is some bugs in the latest 3.02 version. Would PM please invetigate and rectify. I want to downgrade back to version 3.01. Can I just update directly from USB memory or should I reset to factory setting first and then reload version 3.01? Please advise. |

Hi LiOn Hing,
I just bought a 1T Segate Free Agent Desk for my MTV-3000 for recording purpose. However, I found it won't turn off when the STB is in standby mode. If I switch the HD off from the socket and on again, it won't be in "on" mode. And it will be on with the STB being turned on.
Do you think there is any solution for this?
P.S. I upgraded to 3.02 already.

本來很高興在MTV5000D Firmware版本 2.02 (09年1月23日) 新增MTV5000D型號eSATA硬碟錄製及播放數碼電視節目的功能，我亦第一時間更新了，一個字：正，但有些問題，睇下能唔能夠解答到我，謝謝！
我的個案是這樣的：
我用eSATA Cable由MTV 5000D複製6.2GB檔案到這個 http://www.wdc.com/ch/products/products.asp?driveid=355 外置500GB硬碟，需時30分鐘，若傳送到USB 2.0，則只需15分鐘！想問下點解eSATA傳送速度會比用USB 2.0速度慢一倍？！還是正如Firmware 2.02所說：eSATA硬碟錄製及播放數碼電視節目，MTV 5000D機身後的eSATA埠只作錄製及播放之用，若用在傳送檔案時則會變慢？抑或是eSATA功能未全開？
另外，MTV 5000D升級了2.02 後，重播錄影時有時會Hang機！仲有，在看高清翡翠台時，當有上下黑邊的的節目，有時畫面右下角出現小型爆格，希望Li On們能解決一下，謝謝！ |

Hi Li On,
I would like to suggest that when I fastforward the recorded program, the green bar covered the chinese subtitle. Can it be placed at the upper part of the screen? Also I would like to suggest that can it have the x 1 fastforward so that we can still hear the sound but with faster speed?

本人是Magic TV 3000型号用家一名,本人對3000型号所有功能十分滿意,但可不可以下一版firmware加入(volume control) ? 由於本人正在使用26" LCD mon放在房間睇高清電視,因LCD mon是沒有remote control 每次調教音量便十分不便,(一般的STB都有volume control)希望貴公司能為所有使用LCD mon看電視的用户加入(音量控制)使MTV系列變得更強,和祝你們新年快樂,身體健康~

實際上
只要同頻道的台
是可以同時錄影, 有用手指的用家都清楚的
但mtv只可以2錄1睇
是不是usb的傳輸問題
如果不是可不可以全面開放錄影
如同時錄hdtvb j2 inew
或同時錄jade, atv, pearl, world
如果是因為usb影響,可不可以在esata連接中全面開放
甚至雙tuner同時錄hdtvb j2 inew jade, atv, pearl, world
請問以上可以實現嗎

I am actually using a "Pocket WiFi Router/AP/client" (under $400) with my MTS3000 and the combo works fine. I have used a couple of brands of such product (LevelOne and D-Link) and they look and work very similar. They are very small in size (not much bigger than a credit card and about a couple of CM thick. You do need a computer to set them up. When you get one, make sure it supports "Client" mode and set it up in client mode (there is a selecting switch to put it in router/AP/client mode). They are not very powerful and in my flat, they can only be used when there is at most one wall between the "pocket client" and the wireless router.
wifi都有分制式
b/g是不遠
但wifi n是比較快和遠, 相信再不會受牆的限制
所以mtv 如果support wifi n 當然是最好
希望可以作為server給其他電腦連線看電視 |

I have tried both wired and wireless connection (as explained in my post using a wireless client adapter connected to the RJ45 lan port), if that is what you mean.
Of course, the features supported by the MTV lan connection is limited to their "MTV gadgets" (i.e online text news and weather).
That was why I suggested them to add support of firmware updates through the lan connection. |

又有一個疑似 bug o既報告。
新 3.02 firmware，近呢兩日，不論係錄影緊定係無錄影，
so far 有兩次 replay 時去到 20 幾分鐘就會 hang 機，請放假後麻煩跟進。謝謝。 ^_^
BTW, 我都好希望快 d support USB WiFi。 Thanks!

如果有wifi
可不可以把mtv成為一部中央電視機
因為有時天線不能拉往全屋
所以在另一面的電腦就因為天線不能到達
而不能收看電視
所以希望家中的電腦可以透過wifi連接mtv, 而收看到電視 |

More suggestions:
1) can the background transparency of the "MTV Gadgets" be set independent of other information panels. It makes sense to have semi-transparent menus for other panels but reading the smaller text in "Gadgets" can be hard on old folks like me.
2) How about doing online update from the LAN connection directly? Better yet, do it automatically in the background. If you can support "MTV gadgets", technically, it is possible to support online updates. |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release!  After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP. 
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
