I have similar problem as P.Yeung, hardware not the same.
1 TV wall socket , 1 RF cable to MTV3000 , all channels scanned OK, CH11,12,13,14,15,17 stable, CH81,82,83,84,85 stable.
Same TV socket, same RF cable to MTV3100 , only able to scan CH11,16, 81,84, these channels are stable.
Please advise.

It is a MTV5000. Yes, all channels OK with the MTV5000

I have 2 wall sockets, one connected to the MTV3000 and one to the MTV5000
On either sockets, same RF cables, when connected to the MTV3200D, 11, 16, 81, 84 are OK
If I replace the MTV3000 with the MTV3200D, the MTV3200D can scan 12, 13, 14, 15, 17 but reception is unstable - signal quality would often falls below 100% and caused mosiacs
If I replace the MTV5000 with the MTV3200D, the MTV3200D cannot scan any of the 12-17 and 82, 83, 85 channels

I didn't use any of the loopouts, I connected the Rf cable to the MTV3200D directly.

OK, I will try to download the new firmware. In case it still can't receive some of the channels, should I get the box replaced by the store or should I call your hotline to do on-site check?
BTW, only one of the USB sockets on the MTV3200D seems to work - I tried to get power from the top USB socket to power my wireless AP, which works with the MTV3000, but doesn't work on the MTV3200D, is this normal? |

there will be some signal lose with any loopout connection so that's understandable.
But using the same RF cable, the MTV3200D should not get poor signal than MTV5000. Please try the new firmware 5.07 beta4 on the MTV3200D and do a channel scan. If it still can not receive some channel while your MTV5000 can receive all channel on the same RF connection, please call our hotline 26556700 and we will arrange a on-site checking.

Dear Li On,
Would you please kindly advise if the 5.07 beta 4 firmware can be used on MTV 3000 too. If not, then if there will be any new firmware for MTV 3000 coming soon. It will be perfect to have a new firware to enable the shift the sub-title up & down as well as changing the colour and the size of the sub-title words.
Once again thank you very much for all your hard efforts and good service in developing the new firmware for MTV STB.

I just bought a MTV3200D, on the wall socket connected to a MTV3000, the MTV3200D got very unstable signal on the ATV HD channels (37) and failed to scan TVB HD channels (35) at all. On the wall socket connected to a MTV5000, the MTV3200D failed to scan both ATV and TVB HD channels. Is this normal - that is the MTV3200D requires higher signal strength than both MTV3000 and MTV5000? Or should I take it back for return/repair? |

MTV3200S MTV3200D, MTV3700D, MTV7000D users, please try this new 5.07 beta4 firmware:

There are some bug fix over 5.06 firmware. Once you updated to this 5.07 beta4 firmware, it will automatically prompt you for firmware update if a new firmware is detected on the internet.
There is also a new feature, 2x fast forward with audio. Goto Settings->Playback Setup to enable it.

bereta hing, even Magic TV can not show your USB HDD content, the "Check and Repair" may still work. If the "Check and Repair" report fail after checking finished, please do the "Check and Repair" again and it may finally recover the HDD. Sometimes if there is many error on HDD, you may need to do "Check and Repair" 2-3 times to completely recover all error.
If it still fail and can not show HDD content, please call our hotline 26556700 to arrange to bring the HDD to us to check.

leeon hing, if the problem only occur during dual recording of 2 channels from different frequency, then it seems maybe 1 of the 2 tuners may have problem.
Please test this:
power on MagicTV from back panel power switch, watch ch85, record ch85, switch to watch ch81, record ch81. Are both ch85 and ch81 ok when watch and record?

These 2 tests will make sure to use both tuners to receive and record both ch85 and ch81. If the test fail, then you may need to bring in the Magic TV to check.

Hi LiOn,
I experience problem with my MTV3200D in firmware 5.06a whenever recording long programme over 2 hours.
Since I used MTV3200D in recording TV programme, I found playback of recorded long programme would be frozen in between 1.5 hrs to 2hrs,
and eventually the MTV3200D reboots.
Like recent programme of the saving private ryan, EPG told it needed 3.5 hrs recording. I also noticed it actually recorded 3.5 hrs.
However, when I attempted to step forward to play by keep pressing "green arrow" button to 2:35:XX and a little bit forward, it was frozen.
I wondered if it hits some filesize limit, because the filesize for the recording took total 6.5GByte and playback reached roughly 4Gbytes of the file
at the said point.
But, I have reformated my external drive once upon a time using MTV3200D during setup so it should be in linux harddrive fromat.
And most importantly, I did not encounter this problem when I used the harddrive previoulsy with my MTV3000D.
Could you throw any clues on the symptom?
P.S. My hardrive is 2.5" Seagate 320GB.

Sorry, the iEPG (enhanced EPG for TVB/aTV and nowTV/CableTV) and remote recording server is down since Monday morning. Our server hosting company said their data center has some problem. We hope the service to back to normal later today.

當居家兵團完後開始播誘情轉駁後,不到數分鐘電視畫面黑晒,
MTV個panel見到錄影既時間亦停止左,按remote任何鍵都冇反應.
為有關機再開,開機後,佢自動再開始錄誘情轉駁,但之前開始左既幾分鐘就冇左
我記得之前唔會咁樣,最多個錄影會分開兩個檔案,依家係覆蓋之前既錄影!
重有最大問題係...成個居家兵團既錄影冇左!!!
我部 MTV7000D 禽晚亦有纇似問題，一路睇，一路誘情轉駁，最後仲有幾分鐘時 hang 機，跟住自動 reboot。 Reboot 後就自動再錄影誘情轉駁。 |

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release! After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
