update 左3.05後, 之前試過一次睇睇下畫面定曬, 成部機hang左, 按任何掣都冇反應, 要關後面個掣先可以正常番...
剛剛今晚又一次係咁......之前我咁多個firmware未試過,
另外睇高清TVB時, 3.05 亦有時突然黑屏,......
睇黎 3.05 係好有問題....  |

Hi Ericsuen4,,
I may try to explain to you briefly (note: you can read the previous posting as many C-hing has explained before).
Don't assume the copy can be done by the MTV3000 as it cannot recognize 2 external HDD at the same time (though we have 2 USB).
The copying shall be done by your computer.
Make sure your computer can read your new 1TB HDD, which is in EXT2 format. (or even ext3 if you've done the format by your comptuer). Else, you will not "see" you HDD from your computer. [Note: If your computer is window based, goto http://www.fs-driver.org/download.html to download the driver such that your computer can then read the EXT2 formatted HDD].
1. plug in both new and old external HDD to your computer.
2. copy the entire TV folder and TS folder from the old HDD to the the new HDD will do.
3. no need to copy tv.db. When you plug in your new HDD to the MTV3000, it will create a new tv.db onto your new HDD.
(Note: the above steps is so simple as I did not assume you will only copy "some" of the programs from old to new, because more caution will be taken in that aspect).

It's very likely that your TV antenna signal in the bedroom is much weaker than that in the living room. You may consider replacing your TV signal splitter with a 1-to-2 signal amplifier. |

My case is like Mr.Loser. I am using mtv3000 with 3.04 on living room is no problem. When I move to bed room and find
the mtv300 have reception problem (睇 Jade高清台,J2, News，畫面出請撿查天線，黑屏，but Asia HD is ok !).
And I try upgrade to 3.05 and downgrade to 3.03b is still cannot help. At the last, when I downgrade to 3.02f then everything is ok. |

Would you care to explain the following phenomenon?
>I found an interesting "feature" on the "video setting defaults": apparently, during channels rescan (I tried only manual rescan), the "video settings" would be changed to different defaults depending on the frequency channel (that is all channels on the same frequency would have the same defaults but different frequency channels have different defaults). For example, when I rescanned the TVB HD/iNews/J2 channels, the video settings would become "black enhancer: on" and "image mode: natural". However, when I rescanned the ATV HD/CTI/CCTV channels, the video settings would default to "black enhancer: off" and "image mode: dynamic". Is there any reason behind the different default settings? |

hi loser, there is no 3.04b firmware. Did you mean 3.04 beta firmware? If so which beta firmware. If possible please list the beta firmware date in System Info.

loser hing, about the reception problem, what is the Magic TV firmware version, before updated to 3.05? As PeterLie suggested, please try to check if any difference of 3.03b and 3.05.

i use 2.5" hard disk on MTV3000,
1. plug in to Mac directly,
2. plug in to NAS, through network place access the hard disk files.
i dun think it needs DNLA protocol, but what you asking that is the same i think,
a NMP/PS3 can read the files at your NAS.
hope LiOn hing network it direct to MTV's hard disk in future firmware, lol |

Thanks for sharing, thats something what i'm doing too, the programs in MTV HD, i can connect directly to my Mac, and also i connect to my NAS,
and every computer at home can share it.
But only have problem after i upgraded firmware nor i used the MTV recovery function. Now the HD can't recognize.

your MTV CAN'T receive boardcast signal, i believe it's TVB problem, i realize TVB have not EPG/signal at midnight last week, it's happen randomly,
they might upgrading or testing something, no worry, it's not your MTV Problem. |

donkeykit hing, as we know HK DTV broadcasts in 3 frequencies. If some channel's reception are good and some channels are poor, that usually mean a reception/antenna issue. You may need to check RF cabling, wall socket or call building management office to check signal.
If all channel reception suddenly fail, then it may be a signal problem, or a Magic TV hardware problem.
If possible, please check signal reception at the other location, a friend's home or in a shop which you bought the Magic TV. If there is no way to test, please call our hotline to arrange to check in our service center.

I am using MTV3000, from 10 Aug the STB failed to receive boardcast signal of Jade,Pearl,Asia & Asia World (i.e. channel 81,84,11 & 16).
I live in Tsing Yi and have tried version 3.03b & 3.05 but still failed. Any other friends also have the same problem?? |

if i use MTV recovery mode for hard disk, will it formatted to ext3 not ext2?
at first, my Mac can mount the ext2 disk and watch the MTV's .tv file directly,
but after i upgraded firmware, my Mac can't recognize the MTV harddisk. any clue?

Added: How to access (read/write) MTV3000 Formatted (EXT2 Format) USB harddrive in Windows PC? On the PC, please install a EXT2 driver for Windows, such as http://www.fs-driver.org/
Tomorrow (Friday), hopefully, We will try to release a firmware update for the MTV3000 with USB harddrive recording function, for user to have fun with recording over the weekend!  This firmware will have some software bugs and may not function 100% perfect. Please treat it as a "beta" release!  After we collect feedback from users, we will release a update version ASAP.
With the recording firmware, it can directly record to a FAT32 harddrive, or it can "format" a USB drive in EXT2 format up to 500G.
We suggest to use a USB harddrive with "auto Power On/Off" function. Some brand name USB harddrives we tested support the auto On/Off function, such as the Buffalo DriveStation, WD (Western Digital) My Book series, and Seagate FreeAgent series. If the USB harddrive support auto On/Off, then the USB harddrive should auto trun off when the MTV3000 finished recording and auto standby, and auto power on when the MTV3000 auto wake up when recording starts.
Generally we recommand a 3.5" USB harddrive with standalone power supply to use on the MTV3000. We also tested a few 2.5" USB harddrive size from 80G to 320G. Those 2.5" USB harddrives also work with the MTV3000 recording, with a "1 USB (harddrive) to 2 USB (MTV3000) cable" for the MTV3000 to supply enough power to the 2.5" USB harddrive. But we can NOT make sure all 2.5" harddrive can work on the MTV3000.
