Peter and C.C. are correct, but the prevalent dvdp w/ upscaling
capabilities have their edges. If you display your image with a digital
player of native resolution of 1280x720, i.e. 720p, then use those dvdp
to produce 720p images will avoid to trigger the internal scaler of the
player which is usually inferior to hardware scaler, HTPC or upscaler of
dvdp.
With a good quality dvd, 720p dvdp will show more crispy and rich
images in your 720 panel projectors.
Just my two cents |

Dear Peter and C.C.
Exactly... But I just wonder why do people spend a fortune in
purchasing video upscaling equipment... Lot of DVD players claim they
can upscale to 720p or 1080i... |

Dear all brothers:
Have a simple (may be stupid) basic question about video upscaling (whether via Hardware 培線器 such as faroudja video processor or via HTPC software). The resolution of the NTSC DVD is only 720 x 480, how can the video image be upscaled to 720p or 1080i? From a "poor" source to "good" HD resolution...
Thank you for your answer in advance.
