1, When you play DVD, there is only one audio source output to 5.1
speakers, therefore the 2 channel audio source(to TV) no sound,
2, Yes, before buying another amp, you can check if your Panasonic
system provides additional inputs such as TV, Aux etc. In general,
most 5.1 system set provides as least two more inputs besides DVD
itself.
3, Yes, the plugs connecting the speaker cables are detacheable,
check the instruction manual. If If they are detacheable, there
should be a chapter to tell you how to detach; or if they aren't,
just cut them then connect to the amo's speaker ouputs accordingly.
Before buying a new amplifier, ring the agent to make sure the
speakers are capable connecting to a new amplifier. There are some
5.1 speakers cannot work separately(eg. Bose....)
