My replacement unit is still working, but the weird sound quality deterioration and auto stop with HDMI connected display switching on/off really bother me. The mod information provided by the original engineer in the website is even worrisome as it just illustrates the defect of his design team! I will like brothers here cautiously before making their decision rather as a guinea pig like me. |

So the 9000S replacement unit broke down just after 20-30 hours?!! Indeed, its disk compatibility is sub-standard (even compared with their low-end DVD players) and may explain why it happened again. I only feed in original CDs (not even DVD+/-R).
I can't tolerate the green-push in HDMI output. |

My replacement 9000s is brand new one after the first one broke down within 2-3 weeks of usage. It has exactly the same problems as my original one. So far, I have never encountered sound deterioration during burn in process in all my previous audio gears. |

The green push is similar to the problem of batch of Denon 3910 fail to pass blacker than black in US forum, and turn grey into green tone.
The SACD performance is decent, resolution much less than Denon 3910 and SA10. This may explain the problem of poor soundstage especially for non-pop genre. So don't expect outstanding audio rather than reasonable performance. |

The CS of Philips said the "slight" greenish tone is a feature of this machine. |

It is DVP9000s.
SACD performance is very good. Initially, I found some weakness in orchestra and classical music playback. After around 30 hours, it becomes very musical and seductive. I would say it is the best I encounter right out of box including Cayin SACD and Denon SA10. Let see how it will perform after 300 hrs. However, I suspect the HDMI output has some greenish tone and not as natural as 3910."

My good old Pioneer DV-S737 is finally breaking down after giving me years of enchantment. i need a new DVD Player though HDMI and SACD are really not necessary for me. But the DVD output sound must be really good to match or exceed my old DV-S737 cos I watch a lot of opera and classical DVDs. I found a lot of cheap basic machine lacks in this sound department. So would this Philips be a good choice or should i go for pioneer 969 instead? |

Philips的問題都幾新奇....
When I connect the hdmi cable between the dvp900 and my lcd display, the component output signal of the dvd will be cut-off automatically, after I disconnect the hdmi cable, the component output signal will be back again. It means that we cannot use both output at the same time. 
Has anyone try that before? If it is true, I think it is unacceptable!  |

A local Hi Fi shop selling modded DVP 9000S, with fuse and one capacitor upgrade as quoted in EZONE this issue. |

Get the replacement unit and the same problem of auto stop during CD/SACD playback when my LCD TV is switched on or off. It is due to the HDMI connection as the problem disappears after disconnecting the HDMI. I hope Philips can issue a firmware to fix it or if impossible a hardware recall may be required. |

You are lucky that your unit breaks down within a week that you can exchange another one. I am still waiting for the replacement unit from Philips as there is no repair for this locally at that moment. So the technician will write a report back to Philips for approval. Again, I will never buy any Philips products! |

The machine was hang... then I returned to the dealer to exchange it
again... |

Machine breaks down after 2 weeks.
Probably due to power circuit problem. |

6000蚊貨仔，vedio方面超值，經s-vedio去色差出1080i，殺低好多果d
1080i，係冇甚麼DVI &HDMI既好拍檔；hdmi 未試，聲方面唔夠2802黎，我指dfr9000係斯文d，2802硬橋硬馬，睇dvd包圍感同2802比都唔輸蝕，但能量一定唔及天龍，可能係CLASS D設計；以聽歌計我揀飛仔。DAB TUNER接收果然犀利，跟機線一插攪掂。
新手入門注意，呢部野setup係un-user friendly，好難搞，同架仔比係兩回事，光纖得一組，同軸有三組，三個display圈圈太細，字又淺色，睇死人咩；
不過個outlook真係好hi-tech討人鍾意。 |

When SACD is being played back (and all signals are output via the 5.1 analogue output), 9000S can detect that SACD and auto-changes to music mode. The menu is for your fine tuning of the frequency setting etc.
The technicians and CS at Hong Kong Philips are infamous. Check out other threads here for complaints. But Philips products are inherently superior to Jap AV products. |

Hello
Do anyone know how to use "music mode" and "moive mode" 900sa, 963sa is comparatively easy to use and efficent. I don't why it need to set volume of speaker.
I have phone to Philips, very non-professional reply, just told me the discription of menu. I suppose he is just a repaired man. Hotline! very dissappointed!  |
